Hi all...I've googled around and searched these forums and can't find the answer...

Do you have a link that details what has changed through the iPod Classic (I have the 160gig) firmware?

my 160gig Classic is on 1.0.2 and I use Windows.

iTunes is telling me to upgrade, yet I am a big fan of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it"...I don't want to install a new firmware that will remove functionality (as software companies, including Apple, do like to do)...

The only thing that is annoying with my Classic is that the Search is kinda messed up...too hard to explain in detail but basically I search for something, click on it, and get a listing of everything on my iPod. Searching again works just fine. Weird.

Anyway, if you know of a hyperlink that would be great.

p.s. I am just starting to put 320x240 vids on my iPod so hopefully new firmware will not restrict the video quality (such as audio bit depth) compared to the older firmware I have.

The 1.1 software update was released in January of last year. If I recall correctly it added support for movie rentals and had some improvements to the click wheel. You'd do well to install the update.

I've never seen Apple remove functionality from an iPod with a firmware update. I've always updated whenever iTunes informed me an update was available
I've had 1G, 3G, 4G, 5G, 6G iPods as well as 1G & 2G Shuffles and an iPhone.
