I've tried updating, reinstalling, factory reset, format, using a program 'anyfix' that claimed to assist in such problems, tried looking it up, can't find the same problem listed anywhere--- no luck. Itunes instantaeously tells me that the sync is complete as soon as I press the button but of course it isn't, not with the thousands of files I'm trying to transfer. Never had this problem over the years with an ipod/itunes. What do you think it means?

iPod Ipod classic. Itunes says "ipod sync complete" (spoiler: it isn't.)

does it recognize the disk in disk mode?
has it been opened before?
have you done a format through disk utility?
when I had that problem, I had it with a faulty drive.
Replacing the hdd helped solve the issue.

With this ipod- it was donated to the thrift store where i work. It had music on it and seems to be working fine.
I tried updating drivers, didn't help. Anything else I can troubleshoot?
