does anyone own a 120GB iPod Classic? Particularly the newly refreshed model?
I currently own an iPhone, and I need more space for my music. Thanks, its appreciated.
I don't have the new classic but I suppose I could help with your problem. I have the 80gb classic and an iPhone. My library has recently just passed the 80gb mark but I will give you advice based on when the 80gb iPod worked for my library.
The way I look at it is that the iPhone is my day-to-day iPod. I have 16gb which is more then enough. I have the iPhone set to sync certain playlists. One standard playlist which is my favorite music (all-time favorites) and that accounts for maybe 6-8gbs (I'd have to look). Then I keep a couple of smart playlists for most recently added albums (so I can keep recently purchased cds sync'd), one for most listened to over the past week (so I can have any songs that I've got stuck in my head sync'd) and then two other ones based on bpms (one for running and one for sleeping). With all of those playlsits I pretty much have everything I'd need.
I then would rationalize the full sized iPod (classic) as my library. Every piece of music I own will be on that. I'll generally use it in my car, on road trips/travel, or if I ever go away for the weekend and don't want to drain my iPhone's battery.
It depends on what you need. I've always owned the 'classic' iPod so my situation was reversed from yours (owning an iPhone and then going to a full-sized iPod). If you plan on expanding your music collection (as you should) I'd definitely recommend getting the classic so that you can have it all in one place without worrying about having to select music.
I just purchased a new 120GB iPod Classic for the exact reason of being able to carry my entire library with me. I own an iPhone as well and in my opinion it doesn't cut it as an iPod due to 1) not enough space and 2) I prefer to drain the battery of my phone doing other things.
The classic works perfect for me and honestly I will be disappointed if and when Apple stops making a classic model iPod.

I have an old 3rd-gen iPod "with Dock connector," 20 Gb, that my music collection has outgrown. A couple of weeks ago I bought a new 120 Gb Classic for my "everyday" iPod, and the older model stays plugged into the car stereo.
The two biggest reasons I bought the new one are (1) capacity and (2) battery life - the old 3G barely gets about 45 minutes of play time when it's unplugged. I absolutely love the new Classic, though, to answer your question.
Funny thing is the 120 Gb model was $249, and the old one was $349 all those years ago.
