Hi everyone,

I have a brand new iPod Classic 160GB still sealed in the box.
Bought it at Best Buy last summer as a gift, but it fell through and I ended up keeping it.

Now that they don't make them anymore I want to keep it as a collectable in case my other classic ever dies. (I love having a dedicated MP3 player)

Even though I own a 128GB iPhone 6 and have my library on the cloud, sometimes the internet is spotty up here and not always available, hence the reason why it's nice to have a mp3 player that contains your library.

My question is this, how long will the battery last inside the ipod that's sealed in the box?

Also, should I buy certain parts now to use for repairs in case my ipods ever break? Maybe certain parts wont be available 5 or ten years down the road? If so, which replacement parts would you recommending buying and where to get them from?

Thanks

Batteries do degrade over time but I can't give you a specific time when they do, could be a few years though.

As for parts, there's tons of parts available for the iPod Classics from Chinese sellers on Ebay.
