Wondering if anyone has experienced this before. I've got a 160Gb iPod Classic, I think it is 4 years old. Works perfectly apart from the fact that it's incredibly slow when using the scroll wheel to move around. There's a huge lag and sometimes I struggle to get where I want (seriously spent a full minute last night just trying to land on the Playlists menu option!). I've got about 85 Gb worth of music on the device. Any reason in particular for the slowness or is the issue maybe to do with the scroll wheel losing sensitivity?

The iPod classic does have some lag since it is a hard-disk drive based player. If you are used to a Nano or an iPod Touch or an iPhone, then it's going to feel slow. (Those are flash-based drives). And the scroll wheel does take some getting used to. Give it a few days. You'll probably get used to it and it will be fine.

Yeah I'm used to a certain amount of lag since it's a hard drive device, but the slowness experienced is getting noticably worse and it's happening when the drive is not being accessed at all.

Those old dual platter 160 GB classics were notorious for this problem, sorry that's just the way they are.

Also, that's why Apple dropped the 160 GB in 2008 and brought it back in 2009--in single platter format.
