I have a 1TB+ .wav music collection that I'd like to consolidate and take most of it with my mobile.

I've seen people here have taken a gen 6/7 and updated from reg HD to SSD but wondering if there is a site or distributor that sells these?

What is the largest SSD capacity for a size that fits the classic (500 gb)?

Any other advice would be helpful. I'm still amazed that somebody has not commercialized this yet as tons of people have large music collections. I do not like having to rely on cloud or some other streaming service to access what is mine. I want to physical media dialed up when and where I want it.

Realistically, either a 240GB 1.8" HDD, or a 256GB SD/CF card.

However, Tarkan has been working on a 1TB flash iPod using an mSATA SSD and adapter. But it has lots of issues to be worked out before it could be released. And it would be very expensive.
