iPod ipod comes out on finder but not in itunes

I'm having issues with updating my ipod. I have it set to sync automatically but it's only showing up on my finder and not in "devices" inside itunes. I've checked preferences but i can't find a button to unsync it and see if it comes out after that. Does anyone know?

I personally dont use itunes anymore now I use DoubleTwist. Also it can sync to ipods and iphones.. If you can fix it or whatever try i out.

What kinda ipod is it ?
