iPod Compact RCA Stereo to Dock Cable not working

I ordered this cable to use my Touch with my home stereo and I am getting no sound. Tried it on Phono, Video, Tape-IN. Nothing.

Does this mean I have to buy a bable that uses the Headphone Jack out ? I thought I was doing this the right way - please help!

Don't know anything about the one you got, since you didn't specify. It could easily be incompatible with your Touch or faulty. But you could try something like this: http://www.sendstation.com/us/products/pocketdock/lineout-miniusb.html with a simple mini-to-L/R audio cable. Or go to DLO and look at their docks. They have both audio only docks and audio with video.
