I created this iPod concept design for the iPod Book 2.0 Contest over at iLounge.com. I know that concept designs have been done to death but I figured I might give it a try.

Unfortunately before I submitted mine someone submitted one that was remarkably similar, using my idea of a pull-out QWERTY keyboard with a clickwheel on it. I didn't notice it at first. I don't think he executed it quite as well, though. He just took a keyboard from a photo of an existing cellphone. I actually fabricated everything from scratch.

Any suggestions?

I say that your concept is really cool :). Hopefully, sometime in the future of the iPod generations, it will be true. Nice image editing skills too.

it looks very professional, and pretty user-friendly, the only problem is it isn't clear why there are two circle scrolly things (for lack of better words)

very good photo-editing skills...

I like it - perhaps a better suggestion of size would be helpful, I'm guessing that it is similar dimensions to the current ipod but how deep is it?

Thanks for the comments. :)

Yeah, same dimensions as the current 5G iPod (think of it as the 6G "real" video iPod with PDA capibilities). Since the contest said design the iPod of 2010 I'd imagine this to be quite thin. I didn't draw a side view. I could.

There are two "circle scrolly things" because one is a touch-sensitive Click Wheel that appears on the screen when iTunes is in use. The other is a physical touch-sensitive wheel (no ordinal buttons, though) for scrolling through webpages, documents, emails, etc. Think of it as a Griffin PowerMate on your phone.

Also note the iSight camera for live wireless video chat. :)

You can rate the design here: http://gallery.ilounge.com/ipod/displayimage.php?album=55&pos=7

And you can see a remarkably similar design (grr) here: http://gallery.ilounge.com/ipod/displayimage.php?album=55&pos=25

I still think mine's better though. :D
