Sync'd my iPad with iTunes to add more music and after sync iPod refused to open.
Tried hard reset on iPad and had no joy so did an iTunes restore and used most recent backup .. iPod again refused to open.

Did another iTunes restore and set it up as new iPad.
Thankfully, iPod now opened and I added the same music with no problems, but obviously lost all my data from other items I had installed on iPad.

Anyone else had this problem ?

No, I have heard that one. More likely not a problem with iPod app, most likely a database problem. After many changes on iPhone when opening iPod app, I've received message about updating database, this may take a few minuets, or something like that.

If it happens again, I'd resync by removing all songs from the iPad. Do a hard reset on iPad, then add the songs back.

I had the same thing happen to me today!!! I didn't even notice it until my friend was playing with my iPad and it wouldn't play music. A full factory reset didn't even work for me.

Just another reason why we need ios 3.3. My iPod app crashes sometimes, but always opens back up. It's almost as frustrating as the wifi problems.

This happened to me a month or so ago. The fix is open the video app. Close the video app. The iPod app should work again. No idea why--probably because the iPad is a magical device.

THANK YOU!!! You saved me from getting frustrated to max!!! :(
Now my iPod app works again...!
