Does anybody know if there is any difference between the current 20gb ipod with the color screen and the older 30gb and 40gb photo?

the old 30 gig and the new 20 gig are the same exact thing... sans 10 gigs... the 60 gig of course is thicker..

The new 20gb color iPod claims 15 hours battery life. The old iPod Photo 30gb claimed 12 hours battery life.

Hey, I have an old 2G iPod - seems like they stopped updating its software a year or more ago. I know it's only 20 Megs or so, but should I even bother downloading the associated iPod update to iTunes 4.9? It appears as if podcasts on my iPod won't work anyhow (though not for any hardware reason, it appears). Anybody know a haxie to enable this functionality for the older iPods?

Probably just difference in the hard drive, not the battery.

All iPod photo models claimed 15 hours of battery life - the 60, 40 and 30.

the new ipods are the IPOD PHOTOS of late... just in a 20 gb and 60 gb model.... every other feature is the SAME......... so much ignorance.......

this was taken from the internet archive....

Exactly. The new 20GB and old 30GB color screen models are completely identical in every single way except for the HD capacity. Same battery life, same dimensions, same weight, etc. The old 40GB and both the old/new 60GB color screen models are slightly thicker and heavier than the 20GB/30GB models, but are otherwise also exactly the same.

I have a first generation Ipod (10 Gig) and Podcasts works fine. Podcast shows up on the play list and you can select which one you want to play.

I must say the new color Ipod does look very nice, I'm just looking for an excuse to spend my OT money and upgrade.

Does anybody know if the new color Ipods are in stock in the Apple stores? If so, any body have one yet?

Can anyone confirm if this is infact the 5G iPod or just a merge of the two lines? If this isn't the 5G, about how long until it would be released?

I can't find the link now but Apple is still calling current iPods the 4G. As for how long until the 5G, my guess is within a month or two. The updated the iPods last year at the end of July and I think they will again. With 80 GB hard drives, possible bluetooth technology and supposed 35 hours of battery life all ready to go to market you know Apple doesn't want to fall behind on their hottest product.

Dude, they have 60 gig :D

The 1st gen of 60 GB had firewire cable, case, dock and more, while current and prev. gen did have all those goodies

Oh ok, thanks for that article. I think I will hold off on a new iPod until the 5G is released. I can wait a couple months if thats all it will be.
