iPod dock built into the MacBook

Am I the only one to think that the USB2 cable to the iPod is a hassle, cumbersome and ugly thing to have in the setup? I say built a iPod dock on the left side of the keyboard, thus eliminating the ugly USB2 cable all together. While we are at it, get rid of the ethernet port, firewire port and one USB2 port. I don't ever use these ports. Get rid of the CD/DVD drive while you are at it.

I really hope you aren't serious. Having an iPod dock on the computer would be ugly. Not to mention that everytime you got a new iPod you run the risk of not being able to sync it with your mac (if the iPod doesn't fit the dock, and you don't have firewire or usb, no way to connect it).

Why would you get rid of firewire? Isn't the Mac supposed to be the center of your digital hub? If so, how would you connect your video devices to load video into iMovie without firewire? Or what if you wanted to expand your storage with another drive?

And, I dunno about you, but the only way I can connect to the internet at my school is through ethernet. They don't offer campus-wide wifi here.

Yeah, I think the OP is just joking as it does not make any sense whatsoever. I guess he has a totally different usage of the computer in his mind. I don't want any "proprietary" port on the notebook computer (like HP's docking port on the side of their notebook) as it will restrict the availability of industry-standard ports. iPods' connectors are unique and cannot be used for anything else.

However, I agree with the point that iPod cable around a Mac is a hassle.

I hope wireless iPod connection would be avilable som time soon.

use a cableyoyo, really tidy management for low voltage cords - my desk would be a mess without them - I even have one on the back of my iPod.
