Ok, so, I'm in Africa for three months at the moment, having a great time it has to be said.

Unofrtunately last week somebody accidentally dropped their bag on my iPod (5G - 60gb) and it's currently completely dead.

Symptoms
1. iPod doesn't boot up; Apple logo appears but is then quickly fades
2. If Apple logo remains on screen iPod gets ridiculously hot
3. No drive noises coming from the iPod

The only reason this annoys me (insurance will buy me a new one) is that I'd transferred about 700 pictures to it which I now have stored nowehere else. Yes I know that's irresponsible but when in the middle of Africa there is little alternative... :(

I assume there is an issue with the drive due to the lack of disk access and, obviously, that would explain its inability to boot.

Any tips on data recovery for once I get back to the UK in September/

Thanks in advenace,

Uber
