I have over 150GB worth of music so I am storing everything on a WD 1TB external HD. I just got my son an 8GB Ipod touch and trying to load his music on it. Since the Air only has 1 usb port I purchased a rocketfish 4 usb from best buy and have both hooked up via port, the hard drive does not get recognized and the ipod seems to connect and reconnect every couple of seconds. Any help is greatly appreciated as my 10 year old wants to play with his new toy.

Thanks,

Is the USB hub bus-powered or does it have an external PSU? If it does not have an external PSU, then it might be that the USB port in MBA cannot power all of the devices simultaneously.

The music is not organized on my harddrive and I would like to not move anything over if I dont have to. (the time consuming process of deleting duplicates in itunes just was finished) I also will be syncing my older 80 gb ipod classic and the 90gb I have left on my mac book air will be almost full. This is a work computer and I need to use it for that purpose and not consume 90% of the harddrive for personal use.

How am I able to determine if the usb hub can connect these simultaneously? I will return if its not capable.

Thanks for the help

In my opinion, if it doesn't work when you first plug it in, it's probably not going to. i-Devices have mixed performance when plugging into USB hubs. For whatever reason they don't like some hubs but work fine on others; and like HH mentioned above it might be a power issue.
