iPod Hi-Fi:
  • $349
  • Hardly any physical separation between speakers
  • Probably slightly higher quality speakers

Creature II Speakers + iPod AV Connection Kit:
  • $198
  • Better stereo sound (separated speakers)
  • Probably slightly lower quality speakers
  • Much better looking setup
  • Bonus AV cable for TV connectivity

Unless the iPod Hi-Fi blows the Creatures away in sound quality, I think that the latter is a much better deal. I would probably say even if it was the same price as the Hi-Fi, I'd still side with the latter.

Thoughts? Agree or disagree?

I haven't heard them yet, but they don't really seem like a good deal (the hi fi).
even cheaper would be the logitech Z-2300 thx certified speakers for 70 bucks.

The hi-fi has a very limited range from what I hear. I'd imagine that most setups are better than it.

Plus you have to love how it's actually more expensive than an ipod.

i'm with you on getting the A/V connection kit instead of the hifi, but i would (and one of these days will) hook it into a full blown audio system; no cheapo creatures for me ;)
