Hi there,
I have the original 1st Gen 20 gig IPod and it has been working all along these past few years. All of a sudden now when I connect to my macs, it freezes ITunes after few minutes and then my computer here and there freezes

Any idea how can I fix this?

I this problem with my old 30GB, Apple says it's the HDD.

I sold it for $50. :apple:

When it starts freezing in that way, it seems to be a sign that it's days are numbered. As bembol says, its a HDD problem (or it could also be the case that the computer is ancient). The same thing happened to my trusty old 30 GB (much used) nearly three year old iPod. I suspect that they are not designed to last forever, so I have since replaced it, just over a month ago. So, to answer your query, a restore might buy you some time, but I suspect that it is indicating that it is not long for this world.
Cheers and good luck
