iPod is dead and won't charge

I plug it into a USB 2.0 port to charge it wont charge I try a usb 2.0 power adapter still wont charge any ideas? I dont have any back up of my music.

How old is this iPod?
Is your cable fraying anywhere? Make sure everything is pushed in super-well.
If you don't have a back up, isn't it still on your Computer's HD? that should be cool if you get a new iPod.

Hmm, see if any of these tips will help you out.

You might have more luck charging from Firewire on another computer if at all possible. Sometimes the iPods can get a bit picky as to how their little joules are received.

Try plugging it in to a power supply, then holding menu and the center button for 6-10 seconds.
This worked for me when mine went dead.
