iPod kern protection failure!! iTunes quits...

Hello hello, I have a little (big :p) problem I would need some help solving.
A few months ago, I got an iPod which worked perfectly, no problems etc. One day I needed to use my iPod as a 'usb key' and so reinitialised my ipod so it could work that way (by taking away the iPod 'programs'). A friend had previously done this with his ipod and it had not caused any problems.
But since I decided to reinitialize my ipod with the ipod installation programs, whenever I hook up my iPod to my computer (G4 cube), iTunes unexpectedly quits and refuses to open. So I can't transfer any music on to my iPod. I included the crash report here in case somebody understands it and could help me fix my problem... I also reinitialized iTunes, hoping it would help, but it didnt. When I connect my iPod to another mac running iTunes, iTunes does NOT unexpectedly quit or refuse to open. So the problem seems to be coming from my computer/iTunes. Any ideas on this, and on how to fix it?? Thanks alot :)

You shouldn't be opening itunes to "reinitialize" the ipod, but rather iPod Software Updater.
 
Yes I'm sorry if I was unclear. I DID reinitialize my iPod with the iPod software updater. My problem lies in the fact that, now that my iPod is 'functional', I can not load music onto it because iTunes quits when I hook up my iPod.
 
A few from over here.

1. Restore iPod (Rather than update. You might have already done this, buts its worth a shot to try it again.) Give the iPod a different name if you can.
2. Try the iPod on another account.

Apart from that, I don't know what you can do. iPods can be quite picky about their software.
 
Definitely try the iPod under a different user account. This will help narrow down whether the problem's on the iPod itself, or something corrupt with your iTunes.

Also, for future reference, there's no need to reinitialise the iPod to get it to work as a USB storage device. Just choose the 'Enable Disk Use' option under iTunes' iPod preferences. It'll then show up just fine on your desktop.
