Hello all,

During some web surfing accidentally i found a web page describing how to change your micro-drive to Compact Flash card on ipod mini. This brought memories of my mini back, and because the problem with it was a faulty micro-drive i decided of fixing it to bring back some memories.

As i understand the CF card needs to have memory controller on it. Somewhere i read that some come with it and some not?

Anyone can shed some light on tis? How can i find out out if they have or not? Or some brands which are confirmed of having a memory controller?

Anyone tried this mod? What card did you use? Thanks a lot;)

I found this page a while ago which shows one brand of flash card that works
http://geektechnique.org/projectlab/753/how-to-turn-your-ipod-mini-into-a-flash-based-ipod

Will be doing it myself when my mini bites the dust (given what a klutz I am it's eventually gonna take one beating too many).

Yeah this is the guide i stumbled upon. I ll get me then a CF card mentioned somewhere in that post confirmed to work from some users.

I ll let you know after 28 as i am out of country now:D

CF card instead of micro drive

I have done this mod on six ipod minis using the Kingston elite pro 133x card. I have used both the 16 and 32 GB cards with no problems. (Well almost no problems. Be careful of the cable to the microdrive when removing the old drive. If you mess it up no card will work.) These cards are cheap ( $30 for 16gb and $60 for 32gb) They have worked well for me. Have fun.
