Hey all,

I have an iPod mini that has been just sitting in my closet in its box because the HDD died.. I also have an 8GB 3G Nano that is near its capacity.

I saw online you can put a CF card in a mini and it works. So, I took the mini apart, put in a 16GB CF card I got on eBay, and put it back together. When I did this, I broke the connector off the clickwheel. So, I ordered a new cable and put it in. It came in today, so I fixed it and put it back together.

Since then, I've been getting a large battery icon for about a minute, then an Apple logo when hold is enabled. When I move the hold switch to OFF (hold is disabled), I get a blank screen. I can't do anything. All of this while the iPod is plugged in to my USB port on my MBP.

Any ideas? Do I need a new battery? Is this sucker completely toast and I should just cut my losses and forget it?
