So, within the next month or so I plan on pretty much completely "replacing" my 2G iPod mini; First off, I have a dead mini with a blue case, and I want to take all the internals out of it and replace them with the parts from my (pink) working one. I also plan to replace the battery, headphone jack and the hard drive while I'm at it. (Perhaps the screen if I can squeeze it in the budget.)
I've got just a couple questions. First off, I want to replace the 4 GB microdrive with a 32 GB CF card; I'm not looking for top-of-the-line, "premium" cards or anything like that, just a compatible brand that will last a good couple of years at least. Anyone have any recommendations?
Second, I've seen a few "high capacity" mini batteries, usually something like 900 or even 1300 mAh. Are these trustworthy? I rarely ever use my iPod outside of my car, but with increased storage and a potential for better battery life, that may change. Should I stay away from these and opt for perhaps ones closer to the original battery specifications, maybe even going the used route?
Finally, I have opened a mini before, and had quite a bit of trouble putting it back together. (the click wheel didn't fit fit properly anymore) And, the plastic top and bottoms quite routinely fell off. Any special tools, products or even just advice I should be aware of for this "operation"?
Thanks in advance!
