So I picked up an old iPod Mini (not actually certain of which Gen offhand) that needed a replacement battery. (Actually, I picked up two, because I accidentally killed the first one during reinstallation of the board.) Both had good Microdrives still in them, but my plan from the outset was to replace that with a CF card.
I ended up using a 32GB Kingston 266x CF card.
So here's my problem: I installed a "high capacity" battery I found on eBay, one of those mysterious "1300 mah" batteries. Other people, see here, seem to have had good luck with them, at least when they actually work. I haven't been so lucky. I've tried two of them so far, and while both batteries actually do work, they only last around two hours of play time! Worse, when the batteries do die, I often have to reset the device's clock when I recharge it. As the Mini is infamous for doing, the battery drains pretty rapidly, even when off.
As you might imagine, this is rather frustrating. I was wondering if anyone had any input.
My initial thought was that perhaps the card is trying to suck too much voltage, but it's listed as being a 3.3v and 5v compatible, so I'm not certain that's it.
