ipod music dissappeared from iphone

I was walking to work and opened a playlist. I clicked on a song and it wont acknowledge it. The screen got stuck. then it went to home screen. I went back into the ipod and all my music is gone except for my recently downloaded podcast.
whats going on with this new update.
everything is seemingly stuck or not working right.

anyone have this issue.
