Just got my black 16GB Nano (1.0.2 f.w) from Best Buy and I've noticed a bug/problem and was wondering if its just my iPod thats doing this or all new iPods Nanos are like this

any way the volume even when turned all the way down still plays music

should i get it replased i just got it yesterday

If it bothers you, go for it.

I haven't heard if this is a common issue with 4G nanos, but all iPods I've used in the past don't play music when the volume is set to 0.

I wouldn't call it a bug. I can still hear music playing from my 3g iPod nano, although only with my Shure sound isolating ear buds, when it's at 0.

If you use the volume limiter to select the first quarter of the volume range, you can go lower than if volume limiter is off.

Yes I can still hear sound from my earphones of my 4th gen (16GB) Nano, at "zero" volume. So it isn't a 'bug' as such. If you want it to stop playing music, what's wrong with hitting the pause button?

An exchange Nano wouldn't be any different, and I really don't see how this is a problem at all.

I've experienced this with the 3G Nano as well as the 4G. However, the 4G plays sound at zero volume much louder than the 3G.

Personally, I believe that zero volume should actually mean "zero" volume, not "quite low" volume.

And worse still... my iPod Nano got arged last night!

(instead of saying "Charged", the screen says "arged". Someone at Apple is a bit thick :p)

You fix this problem

I have the same problem with my ipod nano 4g black 16GB. Swapped it for another that had the same problem. Apple says this is normal and that only can push the pause to stop the sound. I do not agree with that. You fix this problem?

It happens with every ipod i think. mine has the same problem (if we can call it a problem)
why you want zero volume
click the pause button...
what's the meaning of playing music without volume?

The problem happens when I listen to music on very low volume at night, when I'm studying. This is not possible at least the volume of my ipod.

With those in-ear type of earbuds, this really is an issue. Even when the tv's on, on the lowest setting I find the music too loud. In bed, before sleep, it is really too loud. With the stock earbuds this is less of an issue, but it's still too loud. I think Apple should fix this with a new firmware. Otherwise I'm digging up my receipt and getting another, non Apple, mp3 player.

a quick newb question..just ditched the nano 2G for a new 4G yesdterday and is it just me, or is the volume just not as loud on the 4G? volume limiter has always been set at max and just recognized a pretty significant drop off in "loudness" if you will. now, I don't BLAST the ipod like a maniac, I just like it at about the quarter to half mark on the volume bar.. but with the 4G it's set at almost 3/4 of the way. and this is late at night in my room with no ambient noise around me whatsoever. am I gonna have to hit up the genius bar or is this the norm for the 4G?

thanks in advance.

I have problems too

I was listening music and the ipod just stopped. The screen stayed the same with the song title etc. and nothing was working. It was not even turning off. I got it today.

headphone and speaker at same time

my Ipod nano 4G is playing music at the same time in my headphone and the speaker of the ipod. every time i try to turn the volume up or down, only the speaker change, and the headphone keeps the same.

Whats the problem?
