I have a JVC aftermarket head unit in my car from 2004. I bought a cable that I had best buy install that goes from the back of the head unit into the front where i can plug my ipod into the cable through the 30 pin connector. It worked fine for my older ipod but when I bought a new ipod 5th gen nano, it would not play or charge it.

Luckily the cable had a headphone jack to use but charging was obviously not an option. The headphone jack recently wore so now i am SOL.

Any suggestions? No, i do not want a stupid fm transmitter and I am not sure if that scosche charge adapter will help PLAY music and not just charge.

What was the old iPod you were using? Awhile back Apple changed the pins on the connector to move from Firewire to USB.

it was a 30 gb ipod classic. It was made like 3-4 years ago thats the best info i can give you. Yes i am aware of the change, so I was wondering if they make adapters that I can just buy rather than scrap the entire cable or even head unit.
