Does the new nano sync with iCal and Address book? If so, can you enter info on the nano itself as well? these little babies look pretty amazing. :D

Address Book and iCal sync from iTunes, but you cant add on the go im prett sure.

I don't use ICal or Addressbook, but I read the instructions and it says you can (sync, that is). You can get the pdf manual on Apple's website.

But no, you can't add contacts on the nano itself. Kind of sucks.

Thanks y'all. Yeah it seems as if there are some things that are being left out by apple, to try and separate the various ipods. crap. If you could add contacts to the address book and events to the calendar, it would be an even greater little device. c'mon, apple, we'll still buy your toys if you let them be all they can be. Honest!

It's always been that way. How would you enter info into a calendar with just a click wheel?

6th Generation Nano discontinued calendar/address feature

I realize this is a 3-year-old thread, but I thought I should add a Nano/iCal update since this thread tops the Google search list for "Nano iCal" just in case someone is basing the purchase of the new 6th generation (2010) Nano partially on the iCal feature. I recently bought a 6g Nano to replace the 5g Nano I lost.

The new 6g Nano did away with both calendar and contacts. Since I don't have a smart phone or another iPod, I used this feature frequently on my Nano 5g to view my calendar, to-do list, and address book . . . I sure do miss it.

Thanks this is useful information. In fact as of now has anyone found a hack to add a calendar to the iPod nano 6G yet?

No iCal, no Address Book, no victory

Apple just sent me a free 6th Gen iPod nano after I returned my 1st gen iPod Nano as part of the recent recall. As happy as I am with getting a serious courtesy upgrade, I am disappointed that iCal and Address Book is not supported. I use iCal for my business, and syncing my laptop calendar with my old nano was really convenient. I am missing the iCal sync already.

I hope Apple will introduce iCal and Address Book software for the 6th gen iPod nano really soon.

Features I'd like

Alarm clock: The 6G already has a timer so why not allow users to set a time (e.g. 6 o'clock) rather than just an elapsed time? If you use a charging system that has a speaker, you would effectively have an alarm clock. Also, add an option to play music instead of the alarm.

Calandar: The watch function already keeps track of the date. Why not add a monthly calandar function that would allow users to use the voice memo function to attach memos to future dates? Press the date and play the memo back. You could keep track of birthdays, appointments, etc.

These seem very doable and would add a great deal of functionality when using the Nano as a watch.
