iPod iPod Nano help needed- buttons not working.

Hi

My ipod nano (2nd most recent one- the one before the camera nano) buttons only work when it is plugged into my stereo ipod dock. So basically the buttons only work when it is plugged into some sort of power.

Once it is taken off the dock, the buttons don't do anything. However I can reset it using the centre and menu button. This does nothing.

Any help would be much appreciated because it's very frustrating.

I know its a silly question but is the lock on the top of the iPod set? The little slider should not show orange, if it does then the keys are locked.

Assuming its not that simple... have you tried restoring the iPod to factory settings through iTunes? I know its a pain to do especially if you hand picked through songs to put on it, but its worth a shot if nothing else works.
