iPod iPod Nano: I could not shuffle a playlist

i used my wife's iPod Nano at a party recently, but I could not get the playlist to shuffle. It would only play in the order it was created. I took it out of the dock a couple of times and went through the settings to shuffle, but when I reloaded the playlist, it went back to the original order. What should I have done?

It's a little misleading, but the way I bet you did it was this: There's an option on the main menu to "Shuffle Songs", and that will just shuffle your library. However, what you need to do to shuffle a specific playlist is to go to Settings -> Shuffle and press it until it's either Songs or Albums, whatever you desire.
