Hey everyone,

I had a white iPod nanon 4gb (1st Gen) that was replaced through the replacement program in 2012 (I don't remember when). It was replaced with a 8gb iPod nanon (6th gen).

Now the thing is, my ipod nano 1st gen was working perfectly but the screen was cracked and since Apple mentionned that the battery could self burn after a couple of years, I decided to follow the procedure to get it replaced by the 6th gen nano. Now, this (totally uncomfortable in hand) iPod nano's screen is totally dead.

The only way to listen to music with it is using my pair of iphone headphones in order to pause or skip a track, basically, it's like a ipod shuffle but even worse since there are no play/pause rew/fwd button on it.

What do u guys think I should do? I almost feel like I should have stayed with my previous iPod.

Yes, it has been more than a year since the replacement and I live in Canada if it changes anything...

Thanks for your advices!

You only got a 90 day warranty with it anyway.

You have a choice:

- Keep it as it is
- Go to apple and pay the OOW replacement charge
- Buy a new one

You CAN skip or play/pause using the nano itself you have to turn it on in settings and then you just double click the sleep/wake button.

Here is the manual, read it:
Manual 6gen iPod Nano

Did you read the post the screen is dead. This wouldn't work.

And any headphones or earbuds with a full remote/mic will allow you to play pause, forward and back on the track, rewind and fast forward and even do voice over if that was enabled before the screen went dead. And you do get a one year warranty with the iPod but seeing as you are outside that they will do an out of warranty replacement which on the bight side will be cheaper then buying a whole new iPod.
