Contrarily to most, I think the new design is great. It's all about the music, as it should be. Since the 1st and 2nd gen, I felt they changed the design to add features that aren't really useful but make the device less easy to use but probably sell more. You know, the square one wasn't ergonomic, the last two had a tiny scroll wheel all for a big screen, how often do you really watch videos on those? And the camera being the best...

Mind you, I have one rant, but it could be fixed with software. With the touchscreen you have to look at it and tap the small buttons on the screen to pause, next song, previous. So it's basically impossible to operate it in a pocket and you have to keep the screen lit and look at it if you clip it on your clothing.

Wouldn't it be possible to turn the screen off but still have the touch sensor on. That way, when you lock the screen you could do simple gestures to operate the device without looking. Tap to pause, swipe left for next, swipe right for previous.

What do you think? :apple:

You can use VoiceOver. Tap once on a screen and it will say what button you touched on.

iPod nano includes VoiceOver, the gesture-based screen reader that lets visually impaired users browse and select songs without viewing the screen. Instead, you’ll hear a synthesized voice speaking the names of menus, songs, and artists. Touch the screen to hear a description of the item under your finger, then double-tap, drag, or flick to control iPod nano. Use the optional Apple Earphones with Remote and Mic to control your music without looking at the screen.
