I have an 80gb iPod video that functions perfectly, except the computer won't recognize the device. I bought it on Craigslist and it is formatted to windows. I've been searching and trying to figure it out for hours and nothing works.

I plug in the iPod cord to my macbook and it charges it, but doesn't come up as a device on my desktop or get recognized in iTunes. I have tried another mac and a PC with the same results as well as another iPod cable. I have the most current version of iTunes and I've tried uninstalling iTunes and Quicktime to see if the device would show up on my desktop (it didn't) and then reinstalling, and still nothing. I feel like I've tried every piece of advice available online (obviously the basic things like resetting doesn't help.

It's really annoying that I can't sync. Any help is appreciated.

Also, it's weird that it is charging the iPod and not showing up on the computer. Maybe because it's not enabled for disk use, but since iTunes doesn't recognize it either, there's no way to do that. When I plug it into a PC it makes that noise when there is a device, but doesn't come up in my computer, just charges it.
