iPod on iPhone plays, but no sound? Help?

Tunes on iPod on my iPhone play as I can see the time counter ticking away, all controls work, but no sound is coming out. Checked all settings and they are fine. All other sound-related functions on the phone like rings, incoming calls, alerts, etc. work, just iPod sound is silent. Any suggestions?

Try plugging in and unplugging the headphones 7 or 8 times.
