I recently purchased an IPOD 160GB and a new Home Theater System, which comes with a dock for IPOD. I have HTS system hooked up to TV using HDMI cables.

I can display my IPOD menu on TV, select Playlists, etc (using HTS remote only) and listen to music. The problem I'm having is with viewing movies that I have on my IPOD.

From IPOD Home Theater Main menu (on TV Screen), I select Photos/Videos.

I get a message on TV screen that says "If you want to view photos or watch videos, please switch TV Input mode to Video (Composite Video)"

I have played with settings on my TV, cable box, Home Theater system and IPOD, and cannot fix this problem. Again, I am able to hear music that is on my IpOD through the TV/HTS just fine.

Help!
Thanks, Brent

The problem is the iPod.

The iPod either outputs it's video to the iPod screen or to the iPod Video out cable. To select video to be sent to the video output cable you need to change the settings in the iPod:
1) Select Videos.
2) Select Settings.
3) Select TV out. When you toggle it, it will toggle between on, off and ask.
4) Select on and the video will go to the TV and not to the iPod screen. Reverse this process to watch video on the iPod.
I hope this helps.

I thought this was not possible. What system did you buy?

It is a Panasonic Home Theater System, from Best Buy. I think we paid around $350 for it.

Thanks for the advice. It turns out that even though I had a HDMI cable running from the Home Theater System to the TV, I still needed to run a RCA video cable from the HTS to the TV. Once I did that it worked. Weird, I thought that the HDMI would carry the audio and video.
Once I did that, it worked.
THanks, Brent

Hi, I'm facing the same problem, can you explain more details about which RAC video cable you bought?
