Does the iPod only search for folder.jpg files for cover artwork? (not including iTunes songs, since the artwork seems to be embedded in the song).

Or are there other filenames? folder.jpg seems to be the only one that works so far :( and I don't want to rename my hundreds of files.

Also, if I renamed cover art to folder.jpg, do I need to re-add the songs in the same folder to iTunes?

P.S.
I thought folder.jpg was a Windows-thing, so was never adopted by Apple? Or did they recently change? Also, could I be mistaken, and the art actually be in the files? But I sort of doubt that.

the artwork is in the tags of the files, so if the file is tagged with artwork it should show up without a problem

Strange, because I have hundreds of albums, and the only one that showed artwork was the album that had folder.jpg (none of my other albums have folder.jpg) So you are saying that the folder.jpg is not used? Isn't this a HUGE coincidence, then? Or maybe that is the only album where someone actually bothered to put in artwork into the ID3 tags.
