When I connect my iPod to my PS3, I don't see where the PS3 sorts my music by playlist, artist and/or album. All I see is a mess of randomized folders. It looks like the PS3 only browses the iPod like a portable hard drive.

Please see below for screenshots that explain my issue better.

1. iPod shows up under "Music" ("USB Device - iPod")

2. I access the iPod options by hitting the

button

3. Then choose "Display All"

4. Access your music by choosing "iPod Control"

5. Then choose "Music"

6. You then get a hot mess of tons of numbered folders, in complete random order - as seen here:

7. Like I said, complete random order. No sorting by artist or album:

So those of you with a PS3 and iPod, am I missing something or is this standard?

Unbelievable that the Microsoft Xbox 360 plays flawlessly with the iPod (the 360 sorts playlists, artists and album) but the PS3 can't. Boo :(

no, but it is believable that 1/3 xbox's crash, whilst 1 of 500 ps3's crash. hm?
not to forget the ability to put in a hard drive more than twice the capacity of the xbox 120gb hard drive for $90 less :)

you can just install "eyeconnect" on your blackbook (if you have wireless). it makes your computer a media server, and you can download/stream whatever you want

Yeah that's nice and all, but I still can't get my PS3 to read my iPod. While my Xbox 360 reads it perfectly.

Either way, I guess I'll stick to the slow wireless streaming to the PS3.
