I never bought from the Refurb store before, and I was interested in getting a 3rd Generation Nano. I was wondering if I buy it from the Refurb store will the iPod still come in it's original retail packaging? Thanks.

Yup, you get all new packaging and accessories (ear buds etc.) I've gotten three iPods, two desktops and a laptop refurbed, everything looked completely brand new (no scratches on the cases or anything.) You get the full warranty too. Go for it :D

I've bought a 3G nano and I can tell you it was in perfect condition. It doesn't come in the retail packaging though. Mine came in a white 4"x5"x1.5" box with the word iPod on the top.

Would highly recommend buy the 3G nano at the refurb store.

I don't know where jose (up above) is from, but you do NOT get the original packaging as far as I know. I'm in California fwiw.

I've bought 3 refurb iPods from the Apple online store and every single one looked brand new, and came in a plain brown box but with the accessories and warranty. The iPods themselves looked brand spankin new and I was very happy. So much in fact that right now I am contemplating buying a refurb iMac from the same section of Apple's website. :) We will see if my funds allow for it. The curve ball for me is I want the new MBP now, lol. Anyway, I recommend the refurb store from Apple. It's a great place for deals on items that look brand new anyway.

Man..

After reading these replies, not sure if I should go with Amazon and pay the extra $35 for a new one. I would love to get the new 16GB, but not after hearing the problems people have with the 'accelerometer.' Do you gues think Apple will eventually have some sort of software update to turn it off? What to do?

Thanks for the replies guys. I love the 3rd Generation iPod, and think it's far superior to the current gen. I hate the fact that you have to turn it sideways just to watch videos and access cover flow.

I bought the 3G Nano from the refurbished apple store online. It is practically IN NEW condition. It does not come in the same box. It has a box that says "Apple Certified." I have had no problems with it so far(2 weeks in.) It was a steal for $80. Plus I got a whole bunch of cheap accessories from Ross(dress for less.)

Refurbs rule! I have 2 refurb shuffles and they both seem to work better and faster than my brand-new shuffle. I bought mine off of eBay from two different sellers with excellent long-term feedback.

Both refurbs came in sealed black cardboard boxes with used synch cables and new sealed earbuds. One cable didn't work and the eBay seller immediately sent me a new one (not even another used one) and didn't even ask that I return the faulty one.

If Old Lady had more $ to spend, I would buy a refurb 3G Nano, no hesitation whatsoever!

how long?

hey guys,

Can anyone on here remember how long it usually takes for them to get the new ipod models into the Refurb store?

I'm wanting a new Touch and wondering how much longer I have to wait... it's already been a month! :)

thanks.

Highly Rec.

I attest - I have boughten all my iPods refurbed: shuffle, nano and classic. All have come looking brand new. Its the only way to buy iPods.

...you do NOT get the original packaging as far as I know. I'm in California...

I'm in Cali too. Plain brown box?? Talk about ruining your New iThing Box Opening Ritutal :p Very interesting though, everything refurbed I've gotten has come in "official" boxes printed with the item inside, only the bar code stickers state that it's a refurbed iPod or whatever.

Anyway, unless you really want the box refurb is the way to go.

If the iPod is for you, I would go with the refurb no questions.

I've purchased refurbished iPods (30 GB, Nanos, and a shuffles), iPhones (earlier this year) and a plethora of Macs (iBook G4s, iMacs, PowerBooks, 6 MacBooks, etc.) and I've never had any problems. The box is not the original but who cares if the machines are perfect and have better return policies?

My ex once bought a new MacBook and the screen failed 2 hours after purchase.

Refurb all the way.
