My 80gb ipod classic simply will not turn off. Really frustrated because the battery is being drained.

I repeatedly put it to sleep either by holding the play/pause, or selecting sleep in the menu and it always turns itself back on. I have checked to ensure the Alarm is off.

Putting it to sleep with the hold button makes no difference.

It seems to be randomly "waking up" every couple of minutes because even when it's turned on and the backlight is off, the backlight comes on again by itself.

I have tried restarting it (pushing menu+select), I have updated to the latest ipod software, I have even restored the device and I still have the same problem.

Any ideas before I take it back to the store?

Thanks
