iPod iPod Screen Discolor

I notice when I leave my ipod connected to my computer for a certain length of time in disk mode the screen looks discolored... like waves or something.. is that normal?

With my 3rd Generation iPod I have a similar problem. Its not very noticable unless you look fairly closely though.
