iPod iPod Shuffle (2G) Detection and Syncing Problems. Any thoughts?

Hi,

I have trouble with my iPod Shuffle (2G) frequently.

-----
1. It doesn't always sync. For example, today I listened to half a podcast, docked the Shuffle, but the podcast in iTunes still shows as new/never played.

2. If I dock the iPod Shuffle when my MacBook Pro is in screen saver or asleep, nearly 100% of the time I get the following:

iTunes as detected an iPod that appears to be corrupted. You may need to restore.....You may also try disconnecting and reconnecting the iPod

And, after undocking and redocking, it is fine.

I am not sure why these are happening. The only out of thing "out of the ordinary" is that my iPod Shuffle dock is connected via USB to the back of my Apple Cinema Display and not directly to the MacBook Pro.

Any thoughts?
