im in the running for an ipod. either an ipod mini or the 1gb ipod shuffle. i absolutley love the shuffle design but i dont know if it is for me. can i manually adjust the order of my songs on the shuffle with itunes??? thats a big factor. and is there a belt clip for the shuffle??? does it sound good??? is the lack of an lcd screen a big deal??? please answe these questions for me. thanks a lot.

Yes, you can manually adjust the songs in iTunes...drag and drop individual songs or playlists onto the Shuffle or let Autofill pick at random from a playlist or your entire library.

I don't know about the belt clip...somebody probably makes one. I just keep mine in my pocket.

Yes, it sounds great...best performance of any iPod.

I don't miss the LCD screen at all...you'll have different habits than if you had an iPod with your whole library on it, but to me, it's just different, not bad.

update?

thanks for the answer. how about an update??? are the shuffles due for an update??? should i wait or no? and where is the cheapest i can get the 1gb shuffle, the cheapest i saw is for 119 with my student discount at apple.com. is there cheaper for a new one?

Tough to say about updates...there are some rumors of 2GB Shuffles with displays, but it's anyone's guess as to the validity.

I'd bet 2GB shuffles are coming, but who knows when that will be...there's always something bigger and better around the corner.

They just reduced the price on the 1GB model, so that means one of two things, either they're reducing inventory to introduce a new model or they're digging in for the long haul with these models at the new price points.

$119 is probably the best you'll do for a new 1GB Shuffle...the online Apple Store has just started carrying refurbished ones for $99 if you're interested in that.

Sound quality seems better than my 3rd gen. 10GB iPod. And when I'm at home, I'd rather use the lightweight iPod shuffle than a bulky iPod.

I'm waiting for Apple to make a ~15GB iPod mini so I can ditch that brick-size, 1-ton, 10GB iPod. ;)

thanks!

thanks a lot guys, ur always a big help. im currently enjoying my new 1gb shuffle around my neck and in my ears! i love it! thanks again
