iPod iPod Shuffle Stick doesn't work with current ear buds.

Boy, this was a surprise. Apparently the control on the right ear cable of the new shapely ear buds does not work with the old Shuffle 'Stick'.

Is there a workaround? The problem is that I liked the new shaped ear buds so much, I pitched all the old ones... I did manage to find a set, but I only have one now. Drat!!! And WTH would Apple do something so, for lack of a better word, stupid...

Does anyone still sell the old style ear buds?
