My iPod Shuffle has trouble playing protected music that I've bought off of iTunes. I can play the song but I can't pause, fast forward, or rewind. I can live with this but it;s really annoying not being able to pause on protected songs. It just skips that song and goes to the next one if you pause it.

I would make sure that the Shuffle has the latest updates from Apple. I don't have these issues with my Shuffle, but if I did that would be hte first thing I tried to fix it.

Well, I've restored the Shuffle several times. I've also tried other protected songs on other computers at work with iTunes. Those songs work just fine. It just seems that songs that I purchased on one day are effected. It has to be the song files.

I am having a similar problem

I have updated iPod software, restored to factory settings, but none of the above will work.

Unlike you, mine won't play anything. I purchased the songs from iTunes on a few different dates, so it can't be because it was a "bad day".

I called Apple Technical Support and they said the file format for the song must be incompatible. I checked it out in the FAQs (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=61476) and they said MP4s are compatible, so I am very confused.

I have the 1GB Shuffle (I wish I'd bought the iPod Mini).

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
