Hi All

Sorry if this has been covered previously, I did a search but found nothing...

I just bought a shuffle as a sidekick to my other ipod. I'm finding that it's fine syncing music (I'm manually chucking on what I want) in itunes (7.4.2) but after listening to some tunes and re-syncing it won't update last played, time played etc.

I've tried the 5 R's which didn't work... anyone had this problem and solved it?

Thx!

Ok, just spent some time sifting thru apple discussions, the solution that just worked for me is this (in case anyone's interested :) ):

As many others I had the play count problem with my iPod Shuffle which suddenly stopped working.

The solution sounds boring but seems to work: the iPod seems to be pretty inflexible, but you have to follow a precise routine to keep it working after you have reset it:

1) click 'eject' before taking the iPod of the charger

2) switch on
3) start
4) listen
5) stop
6) switch off

7) insert in charger in 'switched off' mode

Since I don't shortcut any of these steps, I don't have the count problem anymore.

Ipod Shuffle (1st Gen) Play Count

I had the same problem recently with the play count ceasing to work, having previously operated fine.

The solution which worked for me was to RESTORE the ipod to factory settings. Thereafter everything seemed to work fine.

Itunes records the last played time as the time of the sync rather than the actual play time.
