iPod Software Updater v1.2 w/ Equalizer?

Interesting. I gotta admit, it looks pretty authentic. But all someone would have to do is spend a little time in Photoshop, add the level graphics over the top with Multiply or Overlay, and boom. Instant fake. But I'd like to think they don't have that much time on their hands just to fake that. I vote for real. Now, the question is, when do we get this juicy little update?

More likly in Photoshop rather than Illustrator. I own a copy of Illustrator myself, highly unlikly to do something of that nature in Illustrator
Kevin, not to sound too snobby, but it's probably easier to fake that in illustrator, using the powerful repeat commands and some transparency. Judging by the looks of the screenshot, (and it looks kinda fake to me) it would have probably been faked in illustrator.
Everything looks too sharp. And I have an ipod... no way is my screen THAT sharp... and the background is a bit too greenish....

I can see your point about Illustrator and your right about the greenishness of the display of the ipod on the website .But the sharpness of the ipod's display is quite good and is comparable to the fake picture.
I agree-- the iPod's screen IS very sharp... however, the way an actual iPod screen's contrast looks is still WAY off from the "fake" on that web site.
Take this into account-- often times, Designers will "draw" screenshots--take a screen capture and trace in a vector app so it can be scaled. It's possible the image isn't fake per se, but rather a "faked" screenshot-- get me?

On Apple's iPod page they have previously (and still do) use not a photograph but a "screenshot" of the iPod's screen to demonstrate its functionality. Presumably taken from their iPod emulators (used for development), running on some development machine.

No way, hose. That is iTunes, copied onto an iPod screen. The iPod's resolution wouldn't be able to handle something like that (the lines in the eq are too small).
Besides if it is true, what I really want is a color iPod with visualizations.

xrhajj, let me add to your comment in regard to Spymac.
SpyMac did post puctures of an updated software OS version of the iPod running 1.1, around a week or so before OS 1.1 came out. I would like to think that if SpyMac posted more about iPod OS 1.2 it might be true, again.
What I would like to see is the ability to customize the settings for the equalizer, so I can make a new setting (an addition to the R&B, Lounge, Classical, etc.). The visualizer I see as pointless, but more equalizer options would keep me entertained for a while. If it's on iTunes, why not the iPod?
