iPod Touch 1st Generation and External Microphone - Blue Mikey

Does anyone know a way to get an external dock connected microphone (I have the Blue Mikey) to work with the iPod Touch 1st gen?

It works well with my iPod Nano.

The issue seems to be that the iTunes store will not allow you to install sound applications on the 1st Gen Touch, because it has no microphone.

When the Mikey is plugged in, it does! And obviously, compared to the Nano, the Touch is a much more powerful and flexible tool for recording.

And so i am wondering if there is something I am missing.

iPod Touch G1 with the latest OS.
