iPod Touch 2g thinks headphones are plugged in

I have an iPod touch 2g and it thinks headphones are always plugged in even when they're not. This just started randomly happening today. I've search and all I found was repeatedly inserting and removing headphones and cleaning the headphone jack with Q-tips and alcohol. I did both of these and neither worked. I've also reset the iPod multiple times and even restored it and it still thinks headphones are inserted when they are not.

Has it been dropped? I would try and take it to genius bar and see what they say.
