iPod iPod Touch does not wake from sleep NOT fixed in 3.1.2

I was extremely happy when Apple released 3.1.2 to fix "coma mode" where the iPod Touch would stop waking from sleep.

But the problem is, it isn't. It gets stuck in DFU mode and I get the grey screen. I've never jailbroken my iPod so that isn't causing the problem. Anyone know of a fix for this?

If not, how can I download 3.0 again or 3.1 from Apple's servers? I want the latest firmware that didn't have this bug. 3.1.1 and 3.1.2 have the bug for sure. My Mac only has the latest 3.1.2 in the iPod software update folder.
I have a 1st Generation iPod Touch...
