This should have never been a major, singular announcement... it's a product refresh to the iPod Touch line adding what amounts to be an iPod Touch DX. It should have carried the same weight as adding the 13" model to the MBP line-up.

oh, you know that SJ hasn't done a product launch in a while and he needed some time in the limelight. it's what he does. he is a consummate spin-meister. I agree, it's a large, different aspect ratio, large Touch.
But then again, look at how exciting the iPhone looked when it was launched. No applications, no 3G.... And look at where we're now. Once the developers put together new apps that will fully utilize the screen real estate of the iPad, its functionality will increase.
