ipod touch looses volume control when docked

Hi All, I am new at this as you can see.Please try to assist with my problem.Have two ipod touches and have the app to connect them on WIFI network.Works great untill I dock the one unit to be able to play the music on my HiFi.The sound bar scroller remains intact, but I cannot adjust the volume remotely.Songs ,playlists etc are usable but not the volume.:confused:
 
That happen to me, but then i figured out, it's not there because most speakers have volume controls on them. I think.............
