I had the Apple Earphones with Remote and Mic for making VOIP calls and for using with silly smacktalk and smacktalk like apps for the kids. Quickly broken from roughhousing rugrats, plus they would never stay in my ears. It also was quite a pain to plug it in and then try to get them to stay in my ears before making a call.

Does anyone know if there are any sturdier microphone accessories that can perform the same features as the Apple Earphones? Except that you do not have to put in your ears? More along the lines of the Switcheasy Thumbtacks or the Chill Pill Rap Cap (but without such an awful name) that allows for use of microphone and speaker? Maybe some type of microphone that simply does not disable the speaker?

I have the 3G iPod Touch 3.01.
